New Year

Happy new year
Did you all have a relaxing New Year's holiday?
Utsushiki will be open from January 7th (Thursday).
We hope that this year will be filled with smiles for all of you who come regularly and those who we weren't able to meet last year.
Thank you for your continued support this year.
The character of Utsushiki, Ushi-kuntsuki-chan's "Ushitsuki" will also be playing an active role from now on.
Please take good care of him.
New Year's Day.
Making miso is a tradition in our house.
There is no specific time of year for making miso, and it can be made in a variety of ways, such as using home-grown beans or barley.
This year, we asked Furuno Farm, who we usually get our vegetables and rice from, to provide us with koji and they taught us a lot of recipes and tips.
A little secret that isn't found in the books passed down from our ancestors.
I felt like I was Furuno-san's grandson and decided to try making miso!
The preparation and cleanup is very difficult,
Together with my reliable eldest son, my eldest daughter who loves to help out, and my second son who loves to cause trouble.
"If you don't make a lot, they'll be gone in no time!"
"Yasu (my father) also likes miso soup!"
"It already tastes like miso!"
The conversation taking place was so enjoyable.
My second son joined us halfway through, saying "It's clay!" and kneaded the dough really well.
Thanks to this, it was quickly stored in the jar,
I'll wait six months with the hope that it will be delicious.
It was so much more fun than doing it alone.
"I want to eat miso soup with this miso soon!"
Everybody felt the same way.
Teaching each other
Sharing
I want to convey to children the joy I have experienced.
There is a lot to learn from children.
I'm glad there's so much we can be happy about together.
I want to continue to feel and notice even the smallest changes.
Starting this year, Utsushiki will be opening up a learning environment.
With people we respect as our teachers, I hope we can learn from each other's methods the secrets to living and living that they have acquired through daily efforts, and create a space where we can rejoice, laugh, and think together.
I would also like to think about something that children can participate in.
Everyone, please look forward to it.
