Arranging flowers

花を生ける

A little before spring arrived this year, I went to a flower shop to buy flowers for the first time in a long time.

They grew all over our house.

Being a complete amateur, I only had to keep a few things in mind as I placed the flowers in the vase.

I enjoy watching the many buds slowly open and the soft fragrance waft through the air.

A few days later, the exhibition "Yairo Ookami + Flower Shop Nishibeppu Shoten" was held at Utsushiki.

During the event, there was also a workshop by florist Kazumi Hirai.

We had the opportunity to see and hear about how Nishibeppu and Hirai each deal with flowers and their relationship with plants.

We spent the time reflecting on the relationship between humans and plants and the sensations that plants give us.

A vivid and gentle phenomenon that occurs in a space when fresh flowers are placed in water

In a certain homogeneous space created by humans

The breath of life that is the flower that does not fit into the enclosure

It brings a little forest into your life.

Thinking about the existence of flowers for humans

Suddenly, I remembered a psychology class I took in college.

"We discovered that flowers were placed at the graves of Homo sapiens from 13,000 years ago. Perhaps the presence of flowers, offered to the deceased as a sign of respect for their companions, represents the presence of the heart."

We sometimes find plants, flowers, and other natural things "beautiful" and feel encouraged by them.

Maybe it's something unique to us.

Humans are creatures that change depending on and are influenced by the environment.

I tend to prefer simple and quiet things over flashy and talkative ones.

I also wanted to treasure the scenery that brightens my heart.
