Information on the "Exhibition of Ceramic Artist Ryuta Fukumura"

Now that Obon is over, there is a slight coolness in the morning air, which is a relief.
Utsushiki took a break for the Obon holidays, and each of us returned to our daily lives with renewed spirit and passionate energy.
It's still hot in August.
Utsushiki will be holding an exhibition of ceramic artist Ryuta Fukumura.
This is Ryuta Fukumura's third exhibition.
As this is the third time, I think many of you already know this,
Height 180cm, maximum bench press 125kg, loves hip hop.
He played rugby from elementary school through his first year of junior high school, and was active in the tennis club after that.
He works stoically until late into the night, which he calls "all-night pottery."
He always has a smile on his face and speaks in a gentle tone, but his voice is so loud that it echoes outside the building.
His honest and straightforward attitude towards his work and relationships with people fascinates many people.
He currently works as a second-generation potter at Nichigetsugama, a pottery studio in his hometown of Ukiha, Fukuoka Prefecture.
"We don't make rules for manufacturing"
Fukumura says he always keeps this feeling in mind when creating pottery.
Not bound by preconceived notions, he continues to experiment and work on his creations.
The silver-decorated works he creates are garnering attention not only in Japan but also around the world, with online orders coming in from overseas customers.
We want to create high-quality pottery, so we conduct countless repeated tests to achieve that goal.
It is said that silver-glazed works take about four times longer than usual.
In a time when we are obsessed with efficiency and demand immediate results, we continue to challenge ourselves every time without fear of failure.
There is an innocent and boundless spirit of inquiry and a determination to continue pursuing originality.
This time, the exhibition will feature his newly created series of silver carbonized ware, as well as ash-covered works fired in a wood-fired kiln.
We hope you enjoy it.
