Information on the exhibition of aluminum artist Jiro Nagase

It's gotten completely warm and spring is in full bloom.
In the Utsushiki Garden, the plants are blooming freely and vigorously, as if celebrating the arrival of spring.
This month we will be holding an exhibition of aluminum artist Jiro Nagase , which is sure to pique the curiosity of both adults and children.
For this second exhibition, Jiro will be present at the gallery throughout the period and will be holding a full-day workshop.
Please bring your children along on spring break.
This promises to be an exhibition where visitors can fully enjoy the beautiful lines of the minimalist design works and the properties of aluminum, which changes organically when hammered.

Workshop Announcement: "Stretchy Aluminum Workshop!"
We will be making spoons using 4mm thick scraps of pure aluminum. Pure aluminum has excellent ductility, so it stretches a lot each time it is hammered, and the thick metal changes shape quickly. This time, we will have you choose one of the various shapes that have been cut out. First, you will try hammering while imagining the final shape, but in most cases it will not turn out as you intended. I hope you will enjoy using the improvisational side of craftsmanship to come up with shapes you never imagined. Sometimes it's so much fun that you end up hammering too much and making it very thin, but that's part of the fun.
