People and things

Think about the history of things.

When I see this and think about actually making something myself, I lose all sense of time.

The process that goes through to create something.

From the country where it was made, to the place where it was made, to the historical background, to the people who made it and what their feelings were, and why did they use this fabric, why this color scheme and why did they use this design?

If we think about it a little more, we realize that there are people who spin the thread to weave this fabric, and people who dye the thread.

And there are people who grow the raw materials that will become the thread.

Did you buy this fabric and embroider it, or did you weave it yourself?

Was this embroidery design popular?

How long has the person who made this been doing this work and how many years has it been in existence?

If we focus a little more on the person, how many family members did this person have?

What kind of life did they live and what kind of daily life did they lead?

Was he rich or poor?

And from whom has this passed, from India to now in my hands in Japan?

When you think about it that way, the relationship between things and people may be something akin to a miracle.

This can be applied in a variety of cases.

This doesn't just apply to old things, but also to the clothes you wear now or the smartphone you use.

A journey of thought that begins with an object.

When I think about these things, I can only feel grateful for the miracle I have in my hands right now.

The history of this object that has become difficult to see.

I would be happy if I could convey at least some of that information, and imagine and talk together about the journey that these items take to get to their destination.

I truly want our store to be like that.
