Light Cultivation

New Spring/Summer Hats Exhibition
Thank you to everyone who came.
On the first two days, we will also be having a coffee party in the cafeteria.
We were able to spend a relaxing time in the utsushiki.
The comfortable time that Matsuda-san created made everyone feel at ease.
We all had fun trying on hats together.
A year ago, from the first exhibition for Kagetsubi,
This is already the third exhibition, with the artist showing his works each season.
Many people came wearing their own Kagetsuji hats.
It seems to have become an indispensable part of my daily life.
The other day, when I was looking at some literature on architecture from the Taisho period, I noticed that most chairs in public facilities had hat racks, and I learned that wearing hats was a common occurrence at the time.
As the topknot culture has degenerated, hats also played a role in indicating a person's status and character, and in a sense they may have been an important symbol of who they were.
It was very impressive to see the happy, beaming expressions on their faces as they left wearing the hats they had chosen for them, and as we watched them leave we all savored the joy and commented how well the hats suited them.
Strangely enough, even though he must have agonized over the choice, once it was decided, the hat became a natural fit for him, like a trademark.
This exhibition featured a colorful array of works, many of which were made from materials that were being shown for the first time, or that were dyed by the artist himself with persimmon tannins.
One of the joys of using this product is watching the shape and color change as you use it.
Please spend lots of time together.
Mari, the partner of hat maker Dai-chan and a staff member at Utsushiki, has studied and practices quantum mechanics.
There will also be an activity called "Small Quantum Talk Session."
I myself would love to learn about the quantum world through Mari.
Perhaps because of this background, the day of the flowering moon appears to be shrouded in light.
It's been a little over a year since I moved from Kanto to Fukuoka.
Although it is such a short period of time, you can see the careful and steady work that has gone into building it over the years, and it is clear that it is being nurtured with great care.
The family worked together and took on the challenge without fear of change, and the hats that were born seem to have a warm, sunny light about them.
Rather than heading towards the light, I had the image of gradually creating light from within myself in response to the various phenomena around me.

You can continue to view the selected hats at Utsushiki.
The sunlight is shining brightly like a summer day.
Have fun going outside and enjoying the protection of your Kagetsuhi hat!
