Detour

Yasuhide Ono

I am extremely behind on updating my blog.
I went to Tokyo for about 10 days for an exhibition.
Every six months, I drive from Fukuoka to Tokyo to exhibit my new works.
We loaded up the car with fixtures and drove straight for a distance of about 1,100 kilometers.
Even if you like driving, it's hard to get used to such long distances.
The exhibition in Tokyo ended without a hitch, so this time I decided to take a slight detour on my way home.
This time, the trip took place over 5 nights and 6 days, going from Niigata to Kyoto to Osaka to Hiroshima before returning to Fukuoka.
The purpose of this trip was to say hello to the stores that I sell my accessories to, to visit the wonderful stores in each area, and to do some sightseeing. (Although it was mostly sightseeing, haha)
Since you have to see everything in a short amount of time, it's a shame that you have to rush through so many amazing places.
I believe that being exposed to wonderful spaces filled with the passion of the shop owners in each region will definitely help me grow as a person.
I truly believe that taking detours to see these wonderful places is an important part of everyday life.
These experiences become my own experience and nourishment, and I feel they add depth to the spaces and objects I create.
Still excited from our trip, we made some major changes to the store's display after returning home.
During our detours, we also purchase antiques and other items that we display in our shop.
The total distance traveled this time was 3,190 km.
I think I ran pretty well...
