Small Forest

Yasuhide Ono

During the three-day weekend, I had many new encounters and long-awaited reunions, and I was able to spend a very interesting time at the store.
In the midst of all this, we have received some wonderful works from Haiiro Ookami + Flower Shop Nishibeppu Shoten .
"Little Forest" and "Forest Fairy".
Today I would like to introduce you to this "little forest".
Each piece is absolutely stunning, but above all, the concept story behind this piece is fantastic, so I recommend you read this story first.
"Small Forest"
How did it end up like this?
I was simply inspired by plants I had never seen before and set out on a voyage with like-minded scholars...
On the isolated island where I had arrived alone, surrounded by the countless remains of plants that had been thrown out from the capsized ship, I recalled the events of the past few days.
Since I was a child, I have loved plants, especially primitive ones and wild plants, and I dreamed of becoming a scientist who studies plants one day.
That is why I was so pleased when I was given the opportunity to accompany this research team, at a time when the global situation is becoming increasingly unstable.
However, in reality, the pretense of studying plants was the only thing they had, and they spent most of their time on site engaging in acts of plundering or performing tasks that seemed completely unrelated to plants.
While he was questioning this lifestyle, he found the "forest" with several other friends who had also joined the research team simply because they wanted to come into contact with plants.
The place was filled with plants we had never seen before, and we spent our days collecting them in between missions, but unfortunately our happiness did not last long.
Then, that day, as I had finished my duties as usual and was heading towards the "forest", I heard the sound of heavy machinery operating in the distance.
As I hurried along the familiar path, I saw with my very own eyes that the "forest," a treasure trove of precious plants, was being cleared away.
It was then that I realized for the first time that our activities had not been overlooked or overlooked, but that they had been under constant surveillance.
What happened after that is a bit of a blur for me, and I don't remember it very clearly.
Together with a few of his fellow collecting companions, he escaped from the research team before dawn and, although he was being pursued, sailed his boat out to sea, barely escaping with his life.
He wanted to deliver the plants he had collected in that "forest" to his family and plant lovers back home. With that desire in mind, he took a risky gamble.
And so I was left alone.
From now on, I plan to put some plant fragments collected from that "forest" into a terrarium and release them into the sea.
I hope it will end up in the hands of someone who has a love for plants.
It also came with the message, "Please take good care of this little forest (Please cherish this little forest)."
I hope that my wish and that lost "forest" will reach the people.
Dear "You whom I cannot see."
———————————————————-
This is a letter left behind by my great-great-grandfather.
It ended up in the hands of a kind person and returned to our family.
The plant terrariums have completely dried up after traveling across the ocean for a long time, but some of them have apparently become valuable research materials.
These countless specimens are still quietly stored in the barn, along with the mysterious ``heritage'' of my family.
Sense of Wonder -A Mysterious Family Story-
From "Little Forest"
The content and writing skills are overwhelming.
After reading this, your outlook on the work will change dramatically.
The contents are made using real dried flowers, making each one unique.
The edition number is engraved on the back, so it's nice that there are no other pieces with the same number.
It is also wonderful that as a florist, they want to cherish plants by carefully storing and using materials that would normally be thrown away at regular flower shops.
And on the piece of paper at the back it says in Russian: "Please take care of this little forest."
As a fellow creator, I am inspired by the elaborate works that have been created so far.
Please come and find your favorite "little forest", each one filled with your own thoughts.
"Small Forest" ¥2,700 (with tax)
There's also a brief glimpse of the "forest fairies".
