The importance of waste

Noserumi

Good morning○
It was a weekend of typhoon-like strong winds, but it looks like it's going to calm down a bit from today.
How are you all doing?
Utsushiki is currently holding an exhibition of woodworker Masami Tokuda!
On the first day, Mr. Tokuda was also present.
Soon after the opening, we had many visitors.
Thank you very much.
These are the pieces that have been in use at home since 2019.
Thin flat plates can be used as trays.
The square plates are great for serving snacks or salads.
This time, there are small rectangular plates lined up.
Even though it is delicate, thin and ephemeral, it somehow reminds me of its generous presence that makes it easy to hold in my hands.
On the first day of the exhibition, Tokuda-san, who was in attendance, said
"We live in an age where useless things are increasingly being avoided, but I think there are important things in useless things."
That is it.
Although the definition of "waste" may differ from person to person,
The traces of his handwriting that remain in his work seem to quietly tell the story of his process.
Still, when the temperature drops so suddenly, I start craving hot soup.
A morning when you want to eat oden, soup, or stew.
Make a big batch tonight so you can have it the next morning!
Have a great seven days this week!
