Cicada emergence

Heavy rain has been continuing across the country for days, but I hope you are all safe and well.

I hope there is no major damage.

Well, the other day, I found a cicada about to emerge from a tomato plant in my garden.

It slowly, steadily transforms into a transparent, soft form over the course of several hours until nightfall.

The person who told me that the cicadas were about to start emerging shared with me the wisdom that cicadas cannot emerge successfully until both of their legs have hardened, and I was once again reminded that this is true.

Every month on the new moon and full moon days, I host a meditation group that acts as a sort of retreat or training, and what I talk about during those sessions coincided with the emergence of cicadas.

Like this cicada, when it emerges it must risk its life and keep its legs steady, taking several hours to emerge.

A few hours for a cicada is a huge proportion of its lifespan.

I believe how firmly you can stand on your feet will determine how far and powerfully you can fly.

It's not that easy to change.

That is why I think we try our best to face it, even though it hurts, and sometimes we turn a blind eye to it.

I myself am in the midst of chaos for the first time in several years, I can't even remember how long it has been.

It's not a pleasant feeling to be in that limbo where there is neither order nor answers, where it feels scary yet comfortable and impossible to leave.

It brings with it feelings of sadness, anxiety, and so on.

However, the more important it is, the more we want to face it carefully, thoroughly, and thoroughly, like a cicada emerging from its cocoon.

I believe that such time itself represents life itself.

I live each day feeling that this is the greatest and most precious thing in life, and that it is the meaning of life itself, rather than self-realization or anything like that.
