Custom portraits of the characters

In conjunction with the iai Exhibition -Hikari Honoka- there will be a caricature ordering session by caricaturist Warata.
I would like to write a little about how I came to draw the portraits of the iai villagers for this exhibition.
I first met Shoda when he drew my portrait for me at a portrait event held at Kagure in Omotesando in 2013.
At that time, when I went to see Kawai Arisa's accessories exhibition, I was really impressed when his wife, Arisa, talked with shining eyes about how good the portraits drawn by Shoda were, so I thought I would take this opportunity to have him draw the three of us, my wife, and our child.
I don't usually have the opportunity to have my portrait drawn, and I had some preconceived notions about portraits (such as the idea that parts of the face are deformed), but the picture drawn by Shoda was very warm and portrayed the person exactly as they were.
(The photo was drawn when we became a family of four.)
Since then, I have had the opportunity to visit Shoda and Arisa's studio in Kyoto whenever I am in the city.
I had always wanted to ask him to help me when I would start making Utsushiki myself, and as I am friends with Iai-san, who also has an atelier in Kyoto, I asked him to join me.
The portrait session will take place over the four days that the artist will be present in the gallery: Thursday the 10th, Friday the 11th, Saturday the 12th, and Sunday the 13th.
Memories that last in a different way than photographs.
It will be nice to look back at the portrait you drew with your children, partner, or family member years from now and talk about where you were at that time.
Walk-in participation is possible, but reservations will be given priority on the day, so we recommend that you make a reservation as you may have to wait depending on the situation.

Only 6 days left until the exhibition.
Please enjoy.
We are still accepting reservations for improvisational productions by iai.
It's rare to have the opportunity to sit in front of the artist and have a garment tailored just for you on the spot.
We hope you will take this opportunity to participate.
