"Mountain Bleaching"

Rain falls on the mountains, the sun rises on the mountains, the mountain water flows, and the rays of light quietly catch the earth.
Each and every iai garment is made by my hands.
By moving my hands in accordance with my inner thoughts, I may unexpectedly encounter new sensations, but making clothing is almost an internal necessity.
Among them, the process of dyeing with plants (earth) is left to the discretion of the plants, and the colors that the plants, which have been nurtured by various characteristics depending on the climate, cannot be predicted. The colors are carefully chosen to incorporate the coincidences that lurk in the seasons into the garments.
So I thought about how the natural changes that can occur by chance in the day would be incorporated into the garment through "exposure". What kind of expression would the garment show, imbued with the simple breath of nature's quirks and the interplay of the wills of the earth and heaven?

At dusk, the light illuminating the mountains is beautiful.
I decided to entrust my clothing to the beauty of the blessings created by nature, such as sunshine and rain.

[Improvisation]

An attempt to use the bare minimum of tools and tailor the piece after discussion.
We will prepare it on the spot and hand it over to you.
We hope you can experience the texture that can only be achieved by human hands, like cooking freshly picked vegetables with the scent of the earth.

iai season concept

Rather than walking, I dance modestly. I'll wear the clothes of a small village, living the modest life of Japan. My clothes, swaying in the light, carry the scent of fluttering flowers.

iai is clothing that brings light into your life. I think of such clothing and lag behind the earlier clothes.

Baobab
Maika: Vo/Fiddle
Mirai Matsumoto: Vocals/Guitar

A brother and sister unit that plays acoustic music centered around singing, guitar and fiddle.

From ancient instruments to modern instruments, traditional to pop, they freely roam the musical plains, conveying the atmosphere of each day, the changing of the seasons, and the scenery and sensations they find living in the countryside as "baobab music."

In 2007, they toured New Zealand performing 20 shows.

The self-produced album became a long-selling hit on the indie scene.

Every spring, we host the "Sing Bird Concert," a music festival themed on the fusion of the natural environment and people, music, art and life, introducing artists from within and outside the prefecture.

It has attracted many sympathizers and has become a hub for expressing emotion from the local community.

"Folk" released in May 2014. Featured in ku:nel vol.69
