Kamiso-shikki is a delicate paper and hemp lacquerware made from kozo, the raw material for paper, and lacquer. Please enjoy the unique wrinkles, texture, and one-of-a-kind presence.
Ono Tomohiro of Yamaka Design Office, which works on graphic design in a renovated warehouse in the center of Yamaka Town, Kitsuki City, Oita Prefecture, has now moved to Bungotakada, where he has been working with the water, soil, and paper of the area to come up with new forms. They are lacquerware-like, objets d'art-like objects. Using the raw materials of washi paper as the base, he creates works that are conscious of circles in forms born from nature.
