Hiroki Kobayashi (sculptor) and Yoko (fabric artist) of Mikusa work with the motto of "living a life of self-created creation." Hiroki uses rotten wood, iron, driftwood, etc. to create sculptures, furniture, and household items, while Yoko creates everyday fabric products using leftover fabrics and old cloth from weaving shops. They found the land they were looking for in Kurohime, Shinshu, and decided to live there. They completed the development with their own hands, and built a home using the wood, stones, soil, and scrap materials they had collected from the land. Their works are born from living with everything there is to offer: the forest, the river, the birds and animals, and the plants.
