Wooden statue
Yasuhide Ono

This is a familiar shop that I always visit whenever I go to India.
The shop owner was going to a warehouse in a village a little further away, so I decided to come with him.
We were shaken around in the car for about an hour.
When we arrived at the village warehouse, we immediately went for a walk around the warehouse with the owner.
I found a wooden box among a mountain of furniture.
Inside, wooden statues are packed tightly together.
When I tentatively took them out and lined them up, the expressions on each one were indescribably beautiful.
There is no actual face on it,
Things like standing alone, etc.
They come in a variety of looks to suit the wood they are made of.
When I asked the store owner, he told me that it was a work by an old Indian artist.
However, I did not know the name of the artist, but I was so happy to come across something as wonderful as this wooden statue that my heart trembled, and I left the warehouse still filled with emotion and shock.
My luggage was extremely heavy on the way back, but every time I look at these items I'm still glad I brought them back.
There are a total of eight statues in the shop, ranging in size from the smallest at around 30cm to the largest at around 80cm, so please come and see these wooden statues with their wonderful expressions.
