ルア族バッグ

When I get busy with a series of exhibitions and the like, I end up slowing down on updating my blog, even though I keep meaning to.

Here are some of the things I've collected for the store.

Bags from the Lua people who live in the mountainous region of northern Thailand.

They grow all of their own cotton without pesticides, and then hand-spin, hand-dye, and hand-weave the yarn.

The woven patterns also vary depending on the yarn and dye quality of each year, so no two pieces are the same.

There are still many ethnic groups living in northern Thailand, along the border with Myanmar and Laos, and what makes these bags different from those of other ethnic groups is that, first and foremost, they are simple, have dull colors, and are as thick and firm as canvas, making them very tough and easy to use.

If it gets dirty you can just wash it, and the more you wash it the better the appearance of the fabric becomes.

It is an essential item for them to carry food and other things along the rough mountain paths. This bag that the old lady over there has been using is extremely cool.

All sizes are hand woven so there will be individual differences, so please use them as a guide only.

Total length 47cm x length 31cm x width 36cm x shoulder length 94cm
