The story continues

物語はつづく

A few weeks have passed since the exhibition at Haiiro Ookami + Flower Shop Nishibeppu Shoten ended.
I'm still in the afterglow.
A decoration resembling a forest entrance that was left behind in his usual spot.
After shopping, please sit down under the fragrant greenery that separates us from the crowd.
I feel like most people are willing to talk to you slowly.

"Small Mirrors of the Forest" born from this exhibition at Utsushiki
In fact, the work has a story attached to it.
So far, we have been able to encounter three stories from their works, starting with "Small Forest" and including "Small Light in the Forest."
(You can see previous exhibitions in dialogue and video.)
By following the letters of each story,
You feel as if you are being pulled by the hand, drawn deeper and deeper into this world.
I was enveloped in a different sensation than when I chose the piece I wanted to take home.
Before you know it, you'll feel like you're standing at the entrance to spending time with the piece.

The sence of wonder at the end of the story
(One translation is a sensitivity to the beautiful, the unknown, and the mysterious.)
These words make perfect sense when you look at their sparkling eyes as they unfold their works.
The exhibition allows you to encounter the current state of the artists' work.
Please feel free to take them as you wish, and I hope that they will serve as an opportunity to expand your horizons and deepen your interests.
The continuation of each story begins.

Utsushiki will be holding an exhibition of Kyoto ceramic artist Shimizu Shiro from Thursday, July 23rd.
The other day, the Utsushiki photography team went on an investigation and were entrusted with some of their work, and some of it has arrived.
Shiro believes it is important to travel to the areas himself to collect the soil.
These works will surprise and pique your curiosity every time you open them.
Some of them had a scent that reminded me of water, like a river or the sea.
Along with the title of the piece, there was a short little note attached to each one.
While wondering where the soil was collected and how it was arranged when it was fired,
Touching each item one by one is the privilege of opening a newly arrived box.

Looking at the notes, chefs compare the slightest changes in saltiness,
It's like a dyer meticulously recording the changes in the state of plants depending on the season.
My imagination runs wild as I imagine the incredible, endless series of trials that must have taken place.
I can't wait until I can speak to Shiro in person, who will be present during the exhibition period.

Please look forward to seeing more videos and dialogues on the Utsushiki website in the future.
Your honest impressions after visiting the exhibition,
It might also be interesting to compare it with text or footage seen through someone else's eyes.
