What you see in the lotus flower

蓮の花にみるものは

good morning.

In August, I had the opportunity to help out a lotus farmer in my neighborhood.
It starts as the sun rises and gradually gets higher, causing the scenery to change with each passing moment with the tone of the light.

Just looking at the mysterious lotus fields makes me feel happy to be here in this moment.
For about two weeks until Obon, this is a view that can only be seen on the same day.

It's like a paradise, and I'm moved by it again and again.

At their feet is a muddy field that prevents them from moving.
The farmer gets covered in mud as she picks the beautiful lotus stalks one by one.
Some buds are tightly packed, while others are swallowing air and their petals look as if they might fall out.
Bright yellow fruit can be seen peeking out from behind it.
The lotus is a unique plant that has flowers, fruit, and roots all at the same time.

A mysterious plant that grows in the mud with its stem stretched out and blooms beautiful flowers.

"Coming out of the mud, but not stained by it" - Buddhism teaches that we can find enlightenment in a world where purity and impurity exist in chaos, just like the lotus flower.
If you look at it from a different perspective, perhaps it is the murky muddy water that contains so much nutrition that allows beautiful flowers to bloom.

This year, we were able to welcome Obon by offering freshly picked, fluffy and delicate lotus flowers.

After Obon, the hot, muggy air has eased and we can begin to feel a slight hint of autumn.
The Ono family is traveling to attend the Yasuhide Ono exhibition at ens in Wakayama and scene in Oita.
The children, meeting each other for the first time in a long time, were looking up at something very high.
Like plants after rain, they had grown rapidly in a short period of time.
The wonder of summer is how things grow at an incredible rate while you're not even looking.
I feel like I want to emulate their example, as they are growing stronger not only in appearance but also in body and mind.

The exhibition at scene will continue until September 3rd.
This is the first attempt at an exhibition of accessories with spatial design by gardener gibeta.
I'm excited to think that there is a world out there that I can't imagine just by looking at photographs.
The Ono family may be present again on the weekend of the 26th and 27th.
Please come and visit us.

So, have another wonderful day today.
