Information on the MITTAN Exhibition

MITTAN展のご案内

In Fukuoka, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and new leaves are appearing, changing their appearance into lush greenery.

For many people, April marks the beginning of something new.

It's sowing season in the Utsushiki fields.

These tiny particles, no more than a speck, will now nurture life.

MITTAN clothing is also great for farm work.

Clothes that have a sophisticated silhouette, are durable, and allow you to move freely without putting strain on your body, making them an essential item for everyday life.

A period where you can enjoy MITTAN designs to the fullest, unique to the exhibition.

Please take this opportunity to try it on.

MITTAN Exhibition
April 16th (Sat) – 24th (Sun), 2022
Day off during the event: Wednesday 13th
Date of presence: Saturday 16th

MITTAN
MITTAN proposes modern ethnic clothing based on the history of clothing and fabrics that remain around the world. By reinterpreting flat structures and combining them with the inherent functionality of natural materials, we aim to create clothing that will last for a long time and not be limited by the passing of the times.

MITTAN Exhibition/Background

Production Background
MITTAN mainly uses hand-woven fabrics from Asian countries such as India and Laos, as well as machine-woven fabrics from various parts of Japan, such as Enshu, Banshu, and Bishu, and historical fabrics related to clothing and fabrics that remain in the world. Designers visit the factories themselves whenever possible and are also working on original material development.
We mainly use cotton thread for sewing, and natural materials for woven labels, quality labels, buttons, and other accessories, and sew them at affiliated factories in Japan. In addition to regular dyes, we also use plants, indigo, insect dyes, and minerals, and we consider the uneven color transitions to be beautiful.

Social Responsibility
Since the brand was established in 2013, we have been repairing and re-dyeing clothes, and continuing to develop standard items. This is our way of protesting against the production structure that assumes mass disposal, and is a major reason for establishing the brand. By continuing to communicate the background from various angles, we hope to bring clothes that have become distant, both mentally and physically, back into people's lives, leading to continued wearing.
