Flower Moon Day Summer Hat

Although it is still May, the temperature is rising rapidly.
The strong sunlight in Fukuoka is almost blinding.
Months have passed since we introduced our winter hats , and it's amazing to see the changes that have taken place on the skin in the same places, to the point that we almost forget there was ever a cold season.
We'd like to introduce you to some cool hats from Kagetsubi that will protect you from the heat this coming season.
The first exhibition was held in March and many new works have been created.
The first piece of his work I saw was a beautifully shaped braided hat.
The comfortable, gentle curves have a mysterious charm that stays in your memory once you see them.
Thin, woven Manila hemp braids are sewn together using a special sewing machine in a single-stroke process.
When you see the intricate stitching, it's not hard to imagine that its simplicity demands advanced skill.
Nowadays, as factories become increasingly mechanized and sewing machines themselves become harder to come by, there are only a few craftsmen in Japan who can make these.

Why is the shape of the Kagetsubi so captivating?
Digging deeper into things I've been thinking about for a long time expands my imagination.
For example, sometimes when a child who won't stop crying is shown Anpanman, the child suddenly stops crying and becomes focused.
Even if they are of different ages and grew up in completely different environments,
I wondered why he was staring so intently.
For example, rice balls.
A collection of grains held in the person's hand.
I think it tastes even better if someone ties it for me.
This may be due to the gentle unevenness that can only be produced by the organic shapes formed by the palm of the hand.
The final shape, created by sewing the blades together, has overlapping parts that create a beautiful arc with slight imperfections.
I feel like we perceive things that cannot be seen with the naked eye as senses that are built into our genes.
The familiarity that emerges in beauty may be what draws people in and keeps them glued to their organic, imperfect forms, just as humans themselves are organic.
It has a maternal quality similar to that of Henry Moore's sculptures.
It feels as if the shape contains a sense of embracing acceptance.
This is the feeling that arose within me.
What would you think?
Although this hat is unique, it can be easily combined with a variety of outfits.
They quickly fit in and have a friendly personality that makes them nervous if they don't put their hat on.
It's been about six months since our family of three moved to the neighboring town of Kurate.
In this place rich in nature, the three artists respect each other and work as a team to create their works.
Mari, the partner of Daisuke, the maker of Kagetsubi, has been working at Utsushiki's store front since April.
Please listen to what he has to say about his perspective, which comes from having been there to support him for so long.
It is recommended that not only adults but also the whole family wear it.

I hope this will be a joy for the coming season.
