March Review

3月の振り返り

It's the end of the fiscal year.

I'm surprised that there's only a little time left in March. Before I knew it, the mimosas and magnolias planted in the pots were in full bloom. It feels like "It's here." After finishing March, I'm thinking of slowly harvesting strawberries with my family in Itoshima City, Fukuoka at the beginning of April. Just setting a reward a little ahead of time helps me work hard. I'm still a simple person.

The Nohara to Kagetsubi exhibition is currently being held and has received rave reviews. I am currently editing the video, but since I have the opportunity, I would like to write a little about the days I spent there covering the exhibition.

At the beginning of March, I visited Kenji and his wife in Nohara. The place is a short drive up a mountain and has only about five households. As we drove along, I kept asking myself, "Is this the right road?" and finally found the couple living there.

The two Nohara people create things with the same sensibility as they live. If there is something they need, they don't make more than they need. They use up everything they've been given. Not everyone can emulate their approach to life, even if they want to, but when I watch them, I don't feel like they're forcing themselves, and to my eyes, it looks endlessly beautiful.

Nohara's first video has already been uploaded to YouTube, so be sure to check it out.

The week after I finished my interview in Nohara, I also visited Kurate Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, where Dai-chan and Maririn from Kagetsuhi live. I am honestly happy that such a wonderful hat maker has moved to the area where I was born and raised. This exhibition marks the debut of both of their careers as artists. I conducted my interviews trying to pick up as much as possible of their thoughts about the exhibition and their experiences so far.

This is my first time seeing the hat making process. The hats Dai-chan makes are carefully sewn with a valuable hat sewing machine, and they are gentle. His way of making hats, not only with his own strength but also with respect for the materials, tools, and family, is thought-provoking.

The video for Kagetsubi is scheduled to be released today. Please look forward to it.

Their exhibition has just begun. However, a week will pass in the blink of an eye. There may not be another chance to see Nohara and Kagetsubi's exhibition at Utsushiki in the future. Please come and enjoy the scenery that you can only see now.

Let's run through the end of the fiscal year.

Well, I hope this week will be a learning one for you.
